Atletico Madrid show true Conor Gallagher colours with one-word message

Former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is loving life in his new pastures after signing for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. The England international ended his association at Stamford Bridge following a transfer saga which resulted in an unceremonious exit.

With less than 12 months remaining on his contract in West London, Gallagher departed for the Spanish capital as he turned down three offers to extend his stay. He found his options within Enzo Maresca's side limited after the summer addition of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, joining the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Carney Chukwuemeka.

Since moving to the Wanda Metropolitano, he has scored twice in five La Liga appearances as he enjoys adjusting to Spain's top-flight.

Atletico Madrid's English X account summed up his start in one-word, they tweeted: "Customer review: GOAT."

The praise comes after Gallagher being lauded by Simeone and has already endeared himself to the tenacious tactician. The Argentine said: "I like him a lot.

"Gallagher has something that you can't buy: enthusiasm, passion, rhythm... wherever you put him, he has a work-rate, talent and aggression that will do us a lot of good."

Gallagher will be looking to help Atletico get one over on their rivals, Real Madrid, this weekend as the two top-teams in the Spanish capital collide. It will also see two England stars go head-to-head with Jude Bellingham as Los Blancos look to continue their title defence.

After opening his account in the 3-0 win over Valencia, his second goal followed shortly after as he made an important contribution to earn a point against Rayo Vallecano last week. The 24-year-old was on hand to drill home the equaliser shortly after the break, to cancel out Isi Palazon's first-half opener as they were forced to settle for a draw.
