BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans say Tasha and Aljaz's Quickstep 'ruined' by one detail

Saturday night saw Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec take to the dance floor first with their Quickstep to Fantasy by Mariah Carey.

The pair received positive feedback from the judges and their highest score of the series with the fast-paced routine. However those at home weren't impressed with the song choice. Many took to social media to complain the usually slow paced song had been ruined as it was sped up.

One viewer posted: "#strictly that mariah Carey song was ruined though lol."

Another added: "What an absolute terrible song for a quickstep #strictly," as a third posted: "Rather than have a song with the beat that is right for the dance, they pick a slow Mariah Carey song add the beat and speed it up, it dosent work #strictly."

Someone else commented: "What is this awful version of Mariah Carey?! If the song doesn't fit the style of dance you want then choose another song! #strictly."

A fifth went on to add: "Not a great match with the music but a brilliant dance by Tasha #Strictly."

Ahead of tonight's live show, bookies revealed Shayne Ward was the favourite to be eliminated next.

Shayne and his professional partner Nancy Xu were set to perform the Rumba to Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper.

According to Ladbrokes, the star’s price has been slashed to 10/11 from even money to be voted off the show. He is the clear favourite to leave, followed by Wynne Evans at 9/4.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: "As far as the odds and punters are concerned, it looks like Shayne Ward’s Strictly journey will come to an end this weekend.”

Sarah Hadland and Chris McCausland's odds of eliminated are at 100/1 meaning it's certain they will move to compete at Blackpool Tower next weekend.

Elsewhere in the competition, it was confirmed Amy Dowden would not be returning to the competition. A Strictly spokesperson said: "Sadly, Amy Dowden MBE will not be partaking in the rest of the competition this year. Whilst Amy focuses on her recovery following a foot injury, fellow Professional Dancer, Lauren Oakley, will step in as JB’s dance partner. The health and wellbeing of everyone involved in Strictly are always the utmost priority. The whole Strictly family sends Amy love and well wishes."
