Micah Richards and have weighed in on Manchester City's against .

headed home the winning goal as beat Wolves 2-1, with the referee Chris Kavanagh eventually awarding the goal after a check. Kavanagh initially ruled out the goal after was flagged offside, but after reviewing the incident on the pitchside monitor he decided that Silva was not impeding goalkeeper Jose Sa.

However, both Richards and Sturridge felt Silva actually had impeded Sa. Speaking on , former City defender admitted: "I would like to see a goal be given for this because I don't think there's too much contact.

"But the fact of the matter is that [Silva] is still in the keeper's way so it has affected the play in my opinion. You want consistency as sometimes you see these given and sometimes not. There's a slight nudge that puts the keeper off balance so he's not set so I can understand why Wolves will feel aggrieved at this particular moment."

Former City, and striker Sturridge added: "It used to be my role - Bernardo's done it perfectly. I believe he has affected the goalkeeper slightly. Look at the timing of the header, he's had to push [Silva] away then gets back on his line to get set. In the end there's too much power on the header, I believe he's impacted on it."

However, the Premier League said the goal was allowed to stand after Kavanagh decided that Silva had not impacted Sa's ability to save Stones' header. "Stones' goal was disallowed on-field due to Bernardo Silva being in an offside position and in the goalkeeper's line of vision," The Match Centre said on social media.

"The VAR deemed Bernardo Silva wasn't in the line of vision and had no impact on the goalkeeper and recommended an on-field review. The referee overturned his original decision and a goal was awarded."

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil was booked after protesting the decision and when after the game, he said: "You can make a decision either way if you want to. Last year we sent clear evidence to the referees that [disallowed] the 'keeper could see above him.

"The reason we were told it was disallowed was it's in close proximity. I think Bernardo Silva is probably less than a yard away from Jose. But I'm sure they'll tell us it was the right call and everybody got it right, so we have to accept that.

"We have to respect that. [But] it felt like a tough blow. I didn't have too much faith that we would get the rub of the green. I do think it's hard to be involved with Wolves and not feel hard done by by the amount that's gone against us."
