Sue Devaney had a defiant message for devastated fans, as she broke her silence on her sad exit storyline.

Sue has spoken about the news for the first time this week, addressing claims she was "furious" with the decision while also sharing the . But amid her devastation to be leaving the role, she shared a five-word message to fans after learning of their attempts to stop the storyline from going ahead.
Sue said she was honoured to be taking centre stage in the plot, speaking of the importance of the condition as her character Debbie is diagnosed with young onset dementia in upcoming scenes. She was grateful to the viewers for not wanting her to go, with her debuting when she was just 16 years of age before a return in 2019.
But she vowed that "Debbie's not going anywhere yet". Reassuring fans there was a way to go before her exit would air, she shared all on the "brilliant" plot.

She said: "It's really lovely that Debbie is loved. And I didn't realise what people thought of Debbie, they love Debbie and that's brilliant. But Debbie's not going anywhere yet. Debbie has been diagnosed and this is her journey.
"The whole of the story is to see her journey, isn't it? To see this journey and tell it. We're all frightened of getting older, aren't we? We're all frightened of the inevitable that's going to happen which is going to be death and nobody knows how we're going to die.
"Viewers read things like, oh yeah, they're killing Debbie off. Well, actually, it's amazing that they're giving Debbie this brilliant story." The star also spoke this week about her reaction to the storyline and how she found out.
Sue revealed Corrie producer Kate Brooks sat her down and detailed the plans for Debbie to be diagnosed with dementia. With that she knew she would be leaving the role at some point.
But Sue says it's an "honour" to be given such a storyline. She added of why Debbie was the right person for the storyline amid viewer backlash: "A lot of people are saying, why give it to Debbie? She's so vibrant and she's so full of life.
"But I think that is where a good story lies because it's somebody that has everything, you know, and words are important to Debbie. She has a quick wit and everything is so important, money and success.
"And actually, she's been dealt this hand of this illness and it is going to be interesting to follow her journey."
