Escape to the Country's Ginny Buckley gives four-word warning during BBC property search

During the latest episode of Escape to the Country, host Ginny Buckley was forced to issue a cautionary note to two prospective homebuyers.

On Friday's show, viewers saw Maria and Baz scouting the Devon landscape with a profit of £400k. Some of the requirements they were looking for included a detached place with a minimum of three bedrooms.

Ginny enthusiastically presented an array of options for their consideration. The house hunt kicked off promisingly with a barn conversion. Although not freestanding, the property still stood out as a leading contender, reports .

The journey gathered pace, with the next stop in South Brent utterly enchanting Maria. But Baz held back, thrown by the home's proximity to a main road.

After touring the first couple of spots, Ginny whisked the pair off to Dartmoor for a walk on the wild side.

Curious about their reflections, Ginny asked: "We've pushed you out of your comfort zone a bit, have we, Maria?"

Maria confessed: "Totally! But we've enjoyed it. I think we probably needed it, and we may have found the property."

Ginny, playing the cautious card, replied: "Don't peak too soon! We've got another day of house-hunting tomorrow."

As events unfolded, it seemed Ginny's sage advice resonated, with property number three delivering a heartfelt hit, moving both Maria and Bav.

Maria was utterly captivated by the semi-detached stone Grade II building in Broadhempston, confessing to the cameras: "I like everything about this property. When we first stood outside, I actually felt quite tearful because it wasn't something that I expected to see within our budget."

She continued with enthusiasm: "I just like the whole package, and to hear that it's well below our top budget is just even better."

Baz concurred with a sense of immediate connection, adding: "I walked in and I got a really good feel for it."

The pair later admitted to Ginny their indecision, torn between the Broadhempston home and the enigmatic offering in Churston Ferrers.

Maria revealed their next steps as she told the host: "We're going to stay in the area and check out both localities and then look at second viewings."

Wrapping up the episode, Ginny shared the exciting outcome with viewers: "I'm delighted to report that it was the mystery house that finally won Maria and Baz over. They put an offer in, and we've got everything crossed that things work out for them here in Devon."

Escape to the Country is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
