Family of girl, 15, fighting for life after paraglider crash issue tragic six-word update

A desperate family has been left with a hospital bill of tens of thousands of pounds after a teenager was , as they issued a heartbreaking update.

Lily Nichol, 15, was enjoying lunch on the last day of their holiday when the man landed on her, leaving her so seriously injured her mother feared she was dead. She was rushed to hospital where doctors found she had suffered a broken back, jaw and ribs.

However, mum Lyndsey revealed she had “forgotten” to take out travel insurance before they left home - and now the family faces a hefty hospital bill of around £45,000. She said in a heartbreaking update: “Our lives have been ripped apart. Our little girl is lying in Turkey and we can’t afford to pay for her operation.

Saturday we were told her head was ok, no damage, so that was brilliant news. Later, we were told after her scan she has a broken back and needs operations on her back and chin which is going to cost us £45, 0000.

“I’m begging for help, our family is doing our best to get the funds together [but] it’s really impossible. Lily is in a really bad way please donate anything possible.

“I just want to get our girl home safe and well. I’ll never get this day out of my head, seeing her poor face thinking she was dead. We can’t get her better without your help, please I’m begging you all for help.”

The family launched a to help pay for Lily’s operations. So far, around 1,000 kindhearted people have donated more than £15,000 - with another £30,000 to go.

Yesterday, Lyndsey wrote: "I’m in desperate need of help. I’m on a family holiday today with my two daughters, we were meant to fly home back to Newcastle today.

“We decided to go out for a nice last meal during which my 15 year old daughter has been in a really bad accident by a man paragliding. He’s landed on her while we were sat at our table.

"Stupid me forgot to take out holiday insurance. Me and my daughter are having to pay for hotels, taxis to and from the hospital. Please even £1, I'm a desperate mam.

“I can’t lose my little girl, she had a stroke and was unconscious during this trauma. My baby girl is in a bad way. I just want to get her home."
