Slot replaced Klopp at Anfield earlier this year after the popular German stepped down. And so far, the decision to appoint Slot looks to have been a masterstroke by the Reds.

Liverpool has won seven of their opening eight Premier League games this term, with their only defeat coming to Nottingham Forest following the September international break. On Sunday, the Reds can go back to the top of the Premier League if they beat after Manchester City narrowly edged past Southampton 1-0.

  • A win for Liverpool against the Gunners would also move them seven points clear of Mikel Arteta's injury hit side, meaning it is vital for Slot and co to come away with a win. Much has been made this season of the differences between Klopp and Slot's respective Liverpool's.

Under Klopp, Liverpool was transition heavy, always looking to unsettle teams on the break with quick, fast attacks. Under Slot, the Reds look more controlled, limiting opposition chances by dominating the ball. And these are changes Odegaard has noticed, with the Arsenal skipper admitting to having watched the Reds 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Writing in his pre-match programme notes for the game he will miss though injury, Odegaard wrote: "Everyone is excited and ready to go. We want to give our best performance, and we know that will be needed against Liverpool.

"They have had a very strong start to the season of course, and are full of confidence themselves. We played against them in pre-season, and I watched their game against Chelsea last weekend, and it looks to me as though there are a few changes from how they played under Jurgen Klopp."

Liverpool.com says: "Odegaard is right, Liverpool do play slightly different under Slot than how they did under Klopp. They are more controlled in possession, but in the game against Chelsea, they showed they could still play the football which made Klopp's Liverpool one of the most exciting teams in the world, with the Reds hurting the Blues on the counter on multiple occasions."
