Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul tale of the tape: Fight record, height and weight

Send Push

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are days away from taking part in their intriguing clash.

YouTuber Paul has carved out a career in the ring over the last four years by largely facing former MMA stars, including Ben Askren, Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz and Tyron Woodley. But he takes on former heavyweight champion Tyson this week as the 58-year-old makes a return to the professional scene for the first time in almost 20 years.

Tyson did take part in an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr in 2020 with the meeting ultimately scored a predictable draw, but the rules are slightly different for his bout with Paul, not least that knockdowns will be permitted. Here is everything you need to know about the two fighters ahead of their clash on Friday night...

Jake Paul

burst on to the boxing scene when he took on YouTube rival Deji in Manchester in 2018 on the undercard of his brother Logan's first fight with KSI. Paul stopped Deji in the fifth round to kickstart a ring career which has brought him to Texas - and . Paul went on to fight another social media star in AnEsonGib in his first professional fight in Miami in 2020, again winning by stoppage, before he embarked on a slew of fights against other athletes. A stoppage win over NBA star Nate Robinson was followed by wins over MMA stars Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley (twice) and Anderson Silva.

Paul then took on , brother of former heavyweight world champion Tyson, in his first true test against a legitimate boxer. Paul dropped Fury but was beaten on points with two of the judges giving the nod to the Brit. Paul returned with a win over legend Nate Diaz before, in an attempt to prove he was serious about the sport, knocking out 'real boxers' Ryan Bourland and Andre August. Paul's last fight was a sixth-round stoppage win over bare-knuckle boxer Mike Perry who stepped in when Tyson was forced to postpone his own fight with the 27-year-old until this Friday.

Paul has fought at cruiserweight until now, but has bulked up for his meeting with Tyson and is expected to weigh in at around 220lb on Thursday. That is likely to be around 10lb lighter than the heavyweight legend but the YouTuber will enjoy a five inch reach advantage when the rivals meet in the Texas ring on Friday night.

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson needs little introduction after his stunning career saw him crowned the youngest-ever heavyweight champion when he defeated via second-round stoppage in 1986. He went on to remain undefeated until suffering an upset defeat by James 'Buster' Douglas in Japan in 1990. Tyson became world champion for a second time when he knocked out Frank Bruno in Las Vegas in 1996 but his career lurched into another period of controversy when he bit Evander Holyfield's ear in their 1997 rematch having lost their first meeting the previous year.

Tyson eventually fought on but lost to bitter rival Lennox Lewis in 2002 as his hopes of becoming a three-time ruler of the division were extinguished. He would fight another three times, beating Clifford Etienne before losing to Danny Williams. Tyson's final professional fight - at least until this week - saw him quit on his stool after five rounds against Kevin McBride.

Tyson did return to the ring four years ago when he took on fellow legend Roy Jones Jr over eight two-minute rounds behind closed doors during the Covid-19 pandemic. Tyson was widely considered to have won the bout but the fight was scored a convenient draw by the three judges. Tyson's career looked to be finished - until Paul came along and called out the heavyweight legend. The New Yorker appears to have maintained incredible physical condition and is expected to weigh in at a similar weight to the final fights of his first career.
