West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus is set for a three-game stint on the sidelines after his red card in the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
The afternoon started so well for Kudus as he opened the scoring for the Iron. Both teams went into the break level after Dejan Kulusevski equalised before the interval.
After half-time, imploded as , an Alphonse Areola own goal and a Son Heung-min strike before the hour mark ended the game as a contest. Unfortunately for Julen Lopetegui, things went from bad to worse before stoppage time as Kudus was sent off.
Initially, the 24-year-old was booked after kicking out at Micky van de Ven twice and pushing a couple of Tottenham players in the face. However, VAR were quick to inform referee Andy Madley that he should review the incident again on the monitor.
After observing what had happened again, the yellow card was upgraded to a red and Kudus was headed for an early shower. The nature of the dismissal, a violent conduct offence, means that the West Ham forward will be out for the next three matches.
The ban is only applicable to matches and will begin next Sunday when host at the London Stadium. Kudus will also be sidelined for the trip to Nottingham Forest and the home clash with Everton.
