Naomi Campbell hit with charity ban after £7,800 stay at hotel

Naomi Campbell has been banned from being a charity trustee for five years by regulators. A Charity Commission probe found serious mismanagement of funds at Fashion for Relief, which the supermodel founded.

This included funding Campbell’s £7,800 stay at a hotel in Cannes, France, plus spa treatments, room service and cigarettes. The charity was set up to unite the fashion industry in relieving poverty and advancing education.

It hosted fundraisers in Cannes and London. It was dissolved and taken off the register of charities earlier this year. Some £344,000 has been recovered and £98,000 of charitable funds protected, the regulator said.

Its inquiry found from 2016 to 2022, 8.5% of the charity’s expenditure was on charitable grants. It said trustees explained hotel costs were typically covered by a donor, but failed to provide evidence. Fellow trustees Bianka Hellmich and Veronica Chou were disqualified for nine years, and four years.
