One in five couples admit to booking separate beds when on holiday together

The thought of snuggling up with your other half might seem all lovey-dovey, but not for everyone! It turns out one in five couples fancy their own space so much they book separate beds when jetting off.

Almost half book apart to ensure they get a good night sleep and for 28%, different shut-eye styles with their other halves is a key reason for option for separate rooms.

In its 2025 Trends Report, hotel giant Hilton has identified eight brand new travel trends calling this particular habit among lovebirds 'The Great Sleep Split. '.

The report is based on data from over 13,000 adults across diverse territories such as Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkiye, UAE, UK, and the USA who weighed in for Hilton's comprehensive study.

Simon Vincent, executive vice president and president of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Hilton said: "Our 2025 Trends Report shows that resting and recharging continue to be primary motivators to travel, and exploring nostalgic destinations with family and friends is on the rise."

Jetting off on what's been termed an 'Ex-cursion' is another up-and-coming trend, with 34% hitting the road with pals post-split. When it comes to family trips, 'Nostalgications' are all the rage, with 45% of parents eager to share childhood haunts with their offspring.

Moreover, 51% are now opting to take their children to the places they always dreamed of visiting when they were younger.

Solo travel continues to be popular, with a separate study by Hilton of 2,000 UK holidaymakers revealing that 34% are eager to embark on a solo adventure before the end of 2025. This trend has been dubbed 'Me-mooning' in the trends report.

While 21% are keen to make new friends, the research, conducted via OnePoll, discovered that 12% are hoping for a bit of romance along the way.
