In an emotional admission on Our Farm Next Door, Clive Owen revealed he's ready to let his sons take the reins, saying, "I am getting older."
With a backdrop of farmwork in progress, Clive said, "We are cutting grass today. Now is our time, but the weather has been very unsettled," while explaining that they're taking their chance during a brief respite, "It is saying we might have three fine days so we are having a go."
During the episode, viewers saw Clive's son Miles take on the grass-cutting for the "first time." Clive commented on the task: "It is quite complicated, especially on these awkward fields."
Jovially, Clive shared a light-hearted moment about stepping back: "It is something I have always done, and it's lovely that I am not doing it. So, I am just telling him off and he is fed up of me already," chuckling at the father-son dynamic, reports .
The programme caught a cautious Clive advising his son during the job: "Turn across, just be careful here. Down, down, watch what you're doing."
Pride in his sons taking over was clear as Clive later remarked: "They're grown-up these lads, and it's good for them to take over these jobs. Miles is a young man now, so the mowing is for him."
Reflecting deeply on his own journey in farming, Clive confided, "The kids grow up and become men. I am getting older, and I am not as strong as I used to be so yeah, it is good that these young guys take over."
Sharing more heartfelt thoughts, he concluded: "It's time to pass on the baton and let them do more and more, and that is how it is. I am here to watch over them and annoy them, and we will get there in the end."
Although fans were initially upset when Amanda Owen confirmed the series' end on X, spirits were lifted with the announcement that the Owens family would return to TV screens in the New Year for a new season.
Ahead of the episode, she reminded her followers: "It's been a manic Monday so this is a late reminder that at 9pm you need to tune in to More4 for the last episode of Our Farm Next Door.
"If you miss it or forget then you can do the catch up thingy on All4."
One viewer responded with disappointment: "Really gutted as was enjoying watching this."
Another added, expressing their sadness: "Ah so sad it has finished, it relaxes me so much just watching the programme."
