The Diplomat season two is on its way but exactly when will it come out and who is to star in the hit political drama?

It was no surprise to subscribers when The Diplomat was given a series two renewal and even before the new episodes drop, the show has already been confirmed for a third outing.

But before attention turns to what could happen in season three, all eyes are on the pending second outing, with plenty to follow up on after the dramatic series one cliffhanger.

The Diplomat season 2 release date

The Diplomat season two is going to premiere on Thursday, October 31, on Netflix with all six episodes dropping in one go.

Production for the series initially began in June last year but production was delayed due to the actors and writers strikes.

Thankfully, there isn’t too much longer before the memorable Netflix drama makes its eagerly anticipated comeback.

Of course, The Diplomat wouldn’t be the same without the diplomat herself, Kate Wyler, portrayed by Felicity and The Americans star Keri Russell.

She is expected to once again be joined by Ali Ahn as Eidra Graham, Rory Kinnear as Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge and David Gyasi as Austin Dennison.

It has also been confirmed that and The Holiday actor will be back as Kate’s husband Hal Wyler after that season one cliffhanger.

In addition to these original cast members, a new face will be joining the show in The West Wing actress Allison Janney who is to portray US Vice President Grace Penn.

The official trailer for The Diplomat season two is ready to watch, teasing what’s to come.

The start of the teaser takes fans back to the end of series one when a car explodes in central London, leaving fans questioning if Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) was killed.

It’s soon revealed though that despite suffering some cuts and bruises, Hal is alive with Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) remaining by his side as he recovers.

But after the deaths of three Americans, Kate suspects the call is coming from “inside the house”, meaning No.10 Downing Street, but who is really behind these attacks?

The Diplomat season two premieres on Thursday, October 31, on Netflix.
