There are many people in the country. Who are dependent on eating two meals a day. Such people are helped by the Government of India. The government provides free ration and ration at a low price under the National Food Security Act.
For this, a ration card is issued by the government. People who do not have a ration card. Those people do not get the benefit of this facility of the government. People get many things on the ration card.
If you also take wheat or flour on ration card from the government shop. Then this news is important for you. A new change related to ration card has come to the fore. Due to which some card holders will get less quantity of grains than before.
An important change has been made for APL ration card holders this month in Himachal Pradesh. The quantity of flour under the Public Distribution System (PDS) has now been reduced. Earlier, 14 kg of flour was given on each card. Now it has been reduced to 13 kg.
This reduction of one kg can affect lakhs of families. This decision has been implemented on both APL and APL income tax paying families. No clear reason has been given by the government for the reduction. But the continuously decreasing supply and stock related problems are being considered as the major reason for this.
People are very angry with the sudden reduction in quota. Apart from flour, the situation is also not clear regarding mustard oil and gram pulses. Last month also the supply of these two things did not reach the depot. Due to which people had to buy at high prices from the market. Now the same situation seems to be developing this month as well.
The general public is directly burdened by the non-availability of essential items like oil and pulses. Especially the middle class and families with limited income may be burdened by the reduction in ration. People are now demanding from the government that the supply should be normalised and the quota should be increased again.
