Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], October 2 (ANI): Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited a Khadi store in Jaipur and emphasised that Khadi represents self-reliance and collective consciousness, which played a vital role in energising the country's freedom movement.
During his visit, the Chief Minister purchased Khadi products and made the payment through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
"Khadi is a symbol of self-reliance and collective consciousness that energised the country's freedom movement. It not only led us to independence but also became the foundation stone for building a new India. Today, on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, I purchased Khadi products in Jaipur and paid through UPI," he posted on X.
He urged all residents of the state to purchase Khadi products on this special occasion. "I humbly request all the residents of the state to buy Khadi products on the occasion. Also, carry forward our rich tradition by gifting indigenous products. In this way, we will not only support our artisans and weavers, but will also contribute to strengthening the national economy," he added.

The Chief Minister also mentioned ongoing initiatives under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, such as the Swachhta Abhiyan and the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.
"Whether it is the work of the Swachhta Abhiyan, blood donation drives, 'ek ped maa ke naam', distribution of more than 8000 joining letters in Rajasthan, or the cabinet's decision to bring a vacancy of over 90,000 jobs or allowing lands to those people who helped in freedom struggle but don't have a permanent shelter even after 70-75 years of independence, it is historical. These all programmes are going on under 'Seva Pakhwara' and under the guidance of PM Modi," Bhajanlal Sharma told reporters.

"Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" not only seeks to enhance green spaces but also strengthens the bond between individuals and their environment. As each tree takes root, it stands as a lasting testament to the nurturing spirit of mothers and our society's dedication to a healthier planet.
Swachhta Abhiyan is a nationwide campaign in India to promote hygiene and cleanliness, and eliminate open defecation. The campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014.
Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar town of Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi, or Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, adopted a non-violent resistance and was at the forefront of the freedom struggle against colonial British rule. This led to India finally achieving its independence in 1947. (ANI)
