Ferozepur (Punjab) [India], October 2 (ANI): Candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress clashed at the Zira town in Ferozepur district of Punjab on Tuesday, Punjab Police confirmed.
The Punjab Police said that there was stone pelting between the two groups when the candidates of the party came to file their nominations for the Panchayat elections.
"Candidates of AAP and Congress who had come here to file their nomination clashed and an incident of stone pelting also took place. Immediately, police intervened and we are taking action as per law and FIR will be registered. Presently, the situation is under control," Ferozepur SSP Somya Mishra said while speaking to ANI.
"We will verify all angles. The Police came forward and controlled the situation, took every precautionary measure so that there are no clashes further," she added.
Several people were reported injured after a clash broke out between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party workers on Tuesday.
The injured were rushed to the hospital.
