Congress on Monday questioned why J&K LG Manoj Sinha, just days ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament, owned up "full responsibility" for the Pahalgam killings which, he said, was "a security failure". It asked who Sinha was "protecting" in Delhi and said the home ministry under Amit Shah was in charge of the law and order and intelligence in the Union Territory.
Congress whip in the Lok Sabha, Manickam Tagore, said: "Six days before Parliament session, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha calls the Pahalgam terror attack a 'security lapse' and takes 'full responsibility'. But in J&K, the real control lies with the Union home ministry under Amit Shah. Why is he silent after 90 terror-related deaths this year?... Where is the peace they promised? Where is the accountability?"
