Several parts of Delhi witnessed rainfall on Sunday evening, offering a welcome break from the persistent humidity. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert, warning of more rain over the next few hours and into Monday.
According to IMD’s latest forecast, a cloud system moving in from the southeast is likely to bring light to moderate showers, along with thunderstorms and lightning, to various areas of Delhi-NCR.
A red alert, as per the IMD's colour-coded warning system, signals the need for heightened vigilance.
On Sunday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 38.4°C, while the minimum dropped to 25.1°C—2.2 degrees below the seasonal average.
For Monday, the weather office has predicted generally cloudy skies with moderate rainfall across the city. The day’s high and low temperatures are expected to be around 33°C and 26°C, respectively.
As of 4 PM on Sunday, Delhi’s air quality stood in the 'satisfactory' range with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 86, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
