Gurugram: A Haryanvi singer reportedly escaped unhurt after unidentified attackers allegedly opened fire at him near Sector 71 on Monday night, according to Gurugram police.
Police said they received information about gunfire near the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and quickly reached the location to investigate.
“No one was injured in the incident, and no vehicle was hit by bullets. Our team is on the spot. So far, we have not confirmed any firing at the scene. We are investigating from all angles,” said Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for Gurugram Police.
Though police have not officially named the singer, PTI sources claimed it was Rahul Fazilpuria, who had earlier contested the Lok Sabha elections from Gurugram on a Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) ticket.
Attempts to reach Fazilpuria for a comment were unsuccessful.
Sources also mentioned that Fazilpuria was previously given Haryana Police security, which had been withdrawn recently. He had reportedly asked for police protection after receiving threats.
The investigation is ongoing.
