Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a rally in Bihar’s Darbhanga district on Wednesday, launched a strong attack on the opposition INDIA bloc, targeting RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. Shah alleged that both leaders are pursuing dynastic politics, with Lalu Prasad wanting to make his son Tejashwi Yadav the chief minister of Bihar and Sonia Gandhi aiming to see her son Rahul Gandhi as the prime minister.
“Both the posts are not vacant,” Shah declared to a cheering crowd, adding that the people of Bihar have seen through what he called the “family politics” of the opposition.
Amit Shah Calls Mahagathbandhan a ‘Thug Bandhan’
Taking a sharp dig at the Grand Alliance, Shah described the Mahagathbandhan as a “thug bandhan” (alliance of crooks). He accused Lalu Prasad Yadav of being involved in several scams, including the fodder, bitumen, and land-for-jobs scandals, while claiming that the Congress party was part of corruption cases worth Rs 12 lakh crore.
“Their only agenda is to fill their family’s coffers. For them, power means personal profit,” Shah said.
‘NDA Will Not Let PFI Members Out of Prison’, Says Shah
Highlighting the Centre’s tough stance on radical groups, Amit Shah said that the NDA government has banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) and arrested its members. He questioned whether the RJD, if voted to power, would keep such individuals behind bars.
“Do you think RJD will let PFI members remain in prison if they come to power in Bihar?” he asked, urging voters to stay alert and not allow “sympathisers of anti-national forces” to take charge.
NDA’s Welfare Push in Bihar: Free Ration, Free Power and Makhana Board
Shah listed the NDA government’s welfare schemes in Bihar, stating that over 8.52 crore residents are getting free ration under the Centre’s initiative. He also highlighted the 125 units of free electricity provided to domestic consumers and the creation of the Makhana Board to promote the state’s signature produce.
“Under Narendra Modi’s leadership, Bihar is moving ahead on the path of growth and prosperity,” Shah said.
Darbhanga’s Development Plans: Metro, AIIMS and Airport
Amit Shah announced that Darbhanga will soon have a metro rail project, adding that an airport has already been built, and an AIIMS is under construction to improve healthcare facilities.
He also spoke about the region’s cultural importance, revealing that a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita is being built in Mithila. “All the places she visited will be linked through the Ram Circuit, giving a spiritual and tourism boost to the region,” Shah said.
Preserving Mithila’s Culture: Rs 500-Crore Centre for Maithili Manuscripts
Shah reminded the audience that the NDA government had given official language status to Maithili, and even the Constitution has been translated into Maithili. To promote the region’s rich heritage, he announced a Rs 500-crore centre being established in Mithila to conserve ancient manuscripts and texts.
“This is our way of preserving Mithila’s cultural legacy for future generations,” he added.
BJP’s Message: ‘No Place for Dynasty Politics in New India’
Shah’s fiery speech in Darbhanga reflected the BJP’s core message, rejecting dynastic politics and corruption. As Bihar gears up for elections, his remarks aimed to energise NDA supporters and remind voters of the BJP’s development and welfare record.
