Your liver plays a crucial role in keeping your body healthy, from detoxifying your system to aiding digestion and storing essential nutrients. Yet, liver health often gets overlooked until problems arise. A strong liver is key to maintaining energy, immunity, and overall well-being. Recognising the growing global burden of liver-related issues, Stanford and Harvard graduate Dr Saurabh Sethi, a liver specialist, emphasises the importance of nurturing your liver through simple but smart dietary choices. He highlights four powerful foods that can make a significant difference.

Dr Sethi points out that approximately two billion people globally suffer from fatty liver disease, and a poor diet is one of the major culprits. To support liver health, he recommends including dates, an antioxidant-rich powerhouse, paired with walnuts, which are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, making for an easy and nutritious snack.

Next, he suggests mixed nuts, which offer vitamin E, a nutrient vital for protecting liver cells. For those with a sweet tooth, a combination of dark chocolate and mixed nuts can be a delicious way to boost liver health, thanks to their antioxidant properties. Honey, when paired with apples and a sprinkle of cinnamon, provides a gut- and liver-friendly treat, as apples are considered superfruits for internal health. Finally, Greek yogurt or dahi combined with berries offers a potent mix of probiotics and antioxidants, supporting both gut and liver function.

Many users shared their enthusiasm for Dr. Sethi’s suggestions, with one mentioning a love for walnuts, dark chocolate, frozen dates, and ambrosia apples with cinnamon, calling them delicious. Another user highlighted the delightful combination of dark chocolate with walnuts, showing that healthy eating for liver health can also be truly enjoyable.
