Touching Kanwar during Kanwar Yatra 2025: Every year in the month of Sawan, lakhs of devotees go on the Kanwar Yatra immersed in the devotion of Lord Shiva. This journey is a symbol of deep faith and discipline. Devotees bring Gangajal and offer it to the Shivling, and purity is considered most important during this entire journey. Kanwar Yatra is not just a religious event, but it also introduces the discipline, restraint, and faith of the devotees. Giving more information on this subject is Bhopal resident astrologer and Vastu consultant Pandit Hitendra Kumar Sharma.

Some rules are considered so special in Kanwar Yatra that it is considered the duty of every devotee to follow them. One of these is – do not touch the Kanwar after urinating. It is believed that after this process, the body is not considered pure, and if someone touches the Kanwar in this situation, it also becomes impure. In such a situation, if the Kanwar is touched by mistake, it can be purified again by washing it with Gangajal.
Gangajal is considered extremely sacred. This is the reason that if, for any reason, the Kanwar becomes impure, then it should be purified again with Gangajal. After this, one can proceed further by following the rules of the journey.
It is also very important to keep some other things in mind during the Kanwar Yatra. Devotees should not keep their Kanwar on the ground. It is believed that the Kanwar should be kept only by carrying it on the shoulder or in the hands. If for any reason it has to be kept down, then a clean cloth or stand can be used.
Apart from this, it is also important to maintain peace during the journey. Getting angry, quarreling, or arguing with someone is considered against the spirit of this journey. Kanwar Yatra is a symbol of restraint, so the consumption of alcohol, tobacco or any intoxicant is completely prohibited. During this time, it is also important to follow the truth and not to use foul language. Many devotees also follow celibacy at this time so that their mind is completely devoted to the devotion of Shiva.

Kanwar Yatra is an emotional and physical penance. Every person involved in this should not only follow the external rules but also remain pure in mind. When a devotee completes this journey with full devotion and sincerity, he not only gets the blessings of Shiva but also attains spiritual peace.
