Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Heavy rainfall has created flood-like situations in several districts of Madhya Pradesh. Rescue operations were carried out in many villages of Rewa, Satna, Maihar, and Chhatarpur.
In Rewa, the boundary wall of an airport built just 10 months ago collapsed. In Chitrakoot, water entered homes and shops.

Rainfall is expected to shift to Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions on Sunday. The weather department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in 19 districts and an orange alert for heavy rainfall in 22 districts.
Districts expected to receive extremely heavy rain (up to 8 inches in 24 hours) include:
Gwalior, Morena, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Niwari, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Betul, Harda, Khandwa, Khargone, Dhar, Jhabua, Ratlam, Neemuch, and Mandsaur.
Districts with a heavy rain alert include:
Bhopal, Alirajpur, Barwani, Burhanpur, Indore, Dewas, Sehore, Ujjain, Shajapur, Agar Malwa, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Sagar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Bhind, Datia, Panna, and Satna.
On Saturday, Chhatarpur district received the highest rainfall. Khajuraho recorded 6.3 inches of rain in just 9 hours, while Naugaon received 3.4 inches. Tikamgarh recorded 1.5 inches, Datia and Narsinghpur saw about 0.75 inches, and Jabalpur, Damoh, and Mandla recorded around 0.5 inches of rain.
Several other districts like Bhopal, Guna, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Shivpuri, Sagar, and Satna also received rain, which continued into the night.
Why So Much Rain?
Weather expert Arun Sharma explained that the state is currently seeing the effects of two troughs, a western disturbance, and a cyclonic circulation system. Due to these systems, many areas are receiving continuous rain.
For the next two days, the western parts of the state, including Indore, Ujjain, and Bhopal divisions, will be most affected. After that, the rain is expected to slow down.
