Mumbai: The first-of-its-kind air-conditioned study center was inaugurated at Captain Prakash Pethe Marg in Colaba on Monday. Located near Budhwar Park main signal, the center can accommodate around 30 students from underprivileged families at a time.
Equipped with benches and drinking water facilities, the center will be open from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM, providing a comfortable environment for students to study.
The project is funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and is in partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The study center is designed to benefit hundreds of students from nearby slums such as Shiv Shakti Nagar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Garib Janata Nagar, Steel Godown, and others. It offers these students a space to study in a comfortable, air-conditioned environment, significantly enhancing their educational opportunities.
Makarand Narwekar, former BJP corporator from Colaba, said, "More such centers will be built in the future. The students studying at this center come from modest backgrounds but are highly ambitious. They are preparing for various competitive exams, including civil services and state service commissions. We are hopeful that many students will benefit from this facility in the coming days."
