At a meeting in a religious school in Colaba on Wednesday, Muslim community leaders asked families to name boys born on12th of Rabi-al-Awwal month, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, after him. Girls born on the day, which corresponds to September 4, should be named after the prophet's daughters, it was suggested.
The gathering at Darul Uloom Hanfia Razvia discussed plans for the celebrations of the 1500th Jashn-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of the prophet. Among other appeals made at the meeting was to hoist the flag of the prophet on homes, shops, madrasas, and mosques.
The meeting was presided over by Hazrat Alhaj Mohammad Saeed Noori of Raza Academy who said, "With only 100 days left to complete the grand 1500th anniversary celebrations of Jashn-e-Milad-un-Nabi, we must observe this occasion with great enthusiasm, devotion, and faith."
Maulana Mohammad Hanif Sahab announced two books on behalf of Imam Ahmed Raza Academy, Bareilly Sharif, one on the Seerat-e-Nabawi and the other a collection of Hadiths, or sayings of the prophet, focusing on humanity, compassion, peace, and love.
Leaders suggested that every home should organise ‘Durood’ which are prayers to God to bless the prophet. Muslims have been asked to make it a habit to recite Durood Sharif at least 100 times a day. Schools, madrasas, colleges, and universities managed by Muslim trusts have been asked to organise speeches, essays, and competitions on the Seerat-e-Mustafa.
Raza Academy and Milad Council announced that a special ‘Seerat-e-Mustafa’ book and a token will be released on the occasion of the anniversary celebration. A lucky draw will be held among the participants using these tokens, and 100 selected individuals will have the opportunity to visit Medina Tayyaba. The meeting concluded with Durood and Salam, followed by a dua led by Darul Uloom's head teacher, Hafiz Abdul Qadir.
