In another incident of boat capsizing, a 22-year-old migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh drowned after a fishing boat carrying 10 fishermen overturned near Mora Jetty on Saturday night around 10.30pm. The deceased has been identified as Suresh Vishwanath Gautam. The remaining nine crew members managed to swim to safety.
According to preliminary information, the boat was out at sea for repair work when it was hit by powerful waves, leading to the capsize. “The boat was around 20 feet away from shore and was undergoing repair work. It had some minor technical problem and the repair was ongoing when a strong wave hit the boat capsizing it. While nine of them swam to safety, one drowned. His body was later recovered by rescue teams,” said Senior Inspector Suryakant Kamble of Mora Coastal Police Station.
