The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), along with CIDCO lottery allottees, will organize a grand poster exhibition in Vashi on Sunday, April 13, to protest against the high housing prices of CIDCO flats announced under the October 2024 lottery. The exhibition aims to highlight the discrepancy between CIDCO’s promises and the reality of unaffordable housing, especially for economically weaker sections.
MNS Navi Mumbai City President Gajanan Kale informed that CIDCO had announced a lottery for nearly 26,000 homes across various nodes in Navi Mumbai, which were presented as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. However, the prices for these houses range between ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore, making them inaccessible for the economically weaker and low-income groups.
Despite repeated protests by MNS and lottery allottees over the past month—including press conferences, human chains, postcard campaigns, and even a symbolic injection march—neither CIDCO nor the state government has responded positively.
Last year, then-CIDCO Chairman Sanjay Shirsat had assured a 20–25% reduction in prices, and Minister Uday Samant had raised the matter in the state legislature. However, no action has been taken so far to make these homes more affordable.
To make citizens and policymakers aware of the need for price reduction, the poster exhibition will visually present reasons and data explaining why the current pricing is unfair. Lottery allottees from different nodes will design creative posters and banners, which will be displayed as part of the exhibition.
All state ministers, CIDCO officials, MLAs, MPs, corporators, social activists, and citizens across Maharashtra have been invited to attend.
