Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, who walked as the showstopper for NIF Global The Runway on Day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week 2025 in March, faced heavy criticism after a video from the show went viral. In the clip, the actress was seen walking confidently down the ramp, but as she reached the front, she grabbed a fellow model's arms from behind and moved her aside without saying a word.
While the model smiled at her, Nushrratt remained expressionless and moments later, she gestured for two other women to stand beside her, completely blocking the model from view. The clip quickly went viral, sparking widespread criticism of Nushrratt's conduct on the runway.
Months later, addressing the backlash in an interview with Yuvaa, the 40-year-old actress clarified the situation, saying, "She wasn’t even a model—she was one of the designers, one of the children from the NIF class, jisko ramp show, centre stage nahi pata tha. Kya karu mein?"
Check out the video:
"She was standing in the centre, there was loud music, and mujhe piche se bola gaya tha, 'Aap aapni jagah pe jake bane hojao.' Aur kaise jagah banau? How do I do it? Forget being a showstopper—any model who walks knows that she walks to centre stage, then turns and walks back. Woh toh basic hai," added the actress.
On the work front, Nushrratt was last seen in Chhorii 2, which was released on Amazon Prime Video on April 11. The film also starred Soha Ali Khan, Gashmeer Mahajani and Saurabh Goyal.
Chhorii 2 was the sequel to the 2021 film Chhorii and was directed by Vishal Furia.
