Uber has introduced a new suite of rider-focused features aimed at making daily travel more affordable, accessible, and seamless across India.
With features like Price Lock, Wait & Save, and Airport Priority Access, the ride-hailing giant is clearly focusing on affordability, convenience, and premium comfort. These additions reflect not only Uber’s responsiveness to user feedback but also its growing commitment to serve the unique needs of Indian commuters.
"The Wait & Save feature gives cost-conscious riders the option to pay less in exchange for a longer wait time, while premium options like Go Priority ensure quicker pickups for those willing to spend a bit more. Price Lock allows frequent travelers to lock in fares for common routes by paying a small upfront fee, helping avoid unpredictable surge pricing during peak hours" stated spokesperson.
Uber is also addressing inclusivity and accessibility through the launch of Uber for Seniors, a simplified app experience tailored for older adults. This new mode, set to go live in July 2025, features larger buttons, fewer booking steps, and real-time tracking that can be shared with family members—making it easier for seniors to stay mobile without technological hurdles.
According to statement released on Tuesday, expanding beyond passenger transport, Courier XL is now live in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, allowing users to send parcels weighing up to 750 kg. This upgrade makes it practical for sending furniture, appliances, or bulk goods—catering to both personal and small business needs. Meanwhile, Uber Pet, available in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, provides a dedicated travel option for pet owners. With drivers informed in advance, it ensures a respectful and stress-free journey for both the rider and their furry companions.
"Uber’s multimodal ambitions also extend into public transit. Integration with ONDC ( Open Network For Digital Commerce) now allows users to purchase Metro tickets directly through the Uber app, with the feature already live in Delhi and soon expanding to Chennai and Mumbai. This makes switching between ride-hailing and metro travel smoother than ever before" further read the statement issued on Tuesday.
