It receives many comparisons to its Europeancounterpart, Prague, yet this city break offers just as much for its visitors, and at a much cheaper price this October half term.
Flight search data from KAYAK has shown just how keen Brits are to mix an affordable trip with a slice of adventure in their October travelplans, and Krakow is the ideal mix of the two.
Offering a getaway typically under £500, the historic Polish city has plenty to offer without splashing the cash.

According to the travel expert, a trip abroad averages out around £800 per person for a week, including return flights.
Except, it appears that a seven-day-long trip to Krakow comes in at roughly £400 each, withPraguelisted at an average of £481, so it seems like a no-brainer where Brits should be heading this month.

Being the second-largest city in the country, Krakow is also one of the oldest and has often been cited as one of the most beautiful in Europe.
The city houses a well-preserved old town which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1978 and became one of the first in the entire world to receive such a status under UNESCO.
This, paired with its affordable food and drink, quaint cobbled streets and its close proximity to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum for tourists interested in history, makes for an ideal getaway in the colder months.
What makes it even better for a short trip is the city's walkability, with everything sitting within relative walking distance, making it all the easier to explore.

If you're still unsure about visiting after learning about cutting costs, it's worth noting just how much the city has to offer.
Starting with the iconic Wawel Royal Castle and Cathedral, a sight to behold as it stands tall overlooking the Vistula River.
Known as the seat of Polish kings, the complex buildings offer a world of history and play the role of the most culturally significant site in the entire country.
Some of the buildings date as far back as 970CE, and the complexities of the buildings hold great historical meaning, including the cathedrals in which the Polish monarchs were crowned and buried.
The main market square is also a special place in the heart of the Old Town, acting as the centre of the city.
It dates all the way back to the 13th century and offers beautiful buildings set back against cobblestones, dominated by the charm of the Cloth Hall.
For a taste of Halloween and the thrill seekers of the group looking for an indoor activity this time of year, Lost Souls Alley is a great attraction to add to the list.
As voted on by tourists as the number six best thing to do in the city, its interactive museums allow you to face fears and visit haunted rooms straight out of a horror film.
It's worth noting that not only can this popular Polish city offer plenty to do and see but also low prices to match the low cost of the booking.
When it comes to food and drinks, Krakow matches Prague with its affordability; while food and drink prices vary, it generally offers a comfortable stay abroad.
Bar Mleczny is what the Polish refer to as a cafeteria-style eatery that offers both food and drinks at a typically low cost; these places are like gold dust for those travelling on a budget.
Krakow's bars often provide traditional fare, averaging at £1.75 for coffee and dishing up £6 meals, with beer sitting as low as £2.20 in some places.
Rachel Mumford, UK travel expert at KAYAK explained: “This year, Brits are looking to balance value with adventure. Travellers are venturing further afield, with Marrakech, Toronto and Tokyo all seeing double-digit search increases for the half term.
“But, there are still savings to be found closer to home. Hotspots like Venice, Budapest and Krakow all offer seven-night stays for under £500 per person.
“Malaga and Palma de Mallorca in Spain are favourites for year-round sun, and both are ranked among KAYAK’s best-value one-week trips for the upcoming half-term break.”
