Coronation Street's Carl Webster may be in the midst of an affair with his brother's wife Abi - but he's set to cause even more heartbreak after tonight's huge twist.
In scenes that are airing on ITV1 tonight, viewers discover that Carl (played by Jonathan Howard) wastes no time in finding another lover while Abi is away with Kevin. The new Weatherfield villain is currently being blackmailed by Tracy Barlow after she discovered his affair with Abi.
Tracy called Abi a "devious, mucky cow" after stumbling upon the pair in an embrace. Abi and Carl began their affair after Abi discovered that her husband had been given the all-clear after his testicular cancer battle - but hadn't told her the truth.

Now, Carl has become romantically involved with yet another resident on the cobbles, crawling into bed with James Bailey, played by Jason Calendar. In tonight's episode, we see Carl with James after the couple spent a night together - and they agree to see each other again.
Speaking about the latest twist, Jonathan Howard said: "Carl likes living life on the edge, he is a hedonist and a free spirit, he is attracted to a person regardless of their gender and if he sees something he wants he goes for it with no real thought to the consequences of his actions.
"He is frustrated that Abi has gone away with Kevin and he needs something to distract himself. There is a spark between him and James so he goes for it.
"Tracy was also offering herself to him but he isn’t stupid and he knows that would be a dangerous move, James on the other hand is less complicated and more fun."
The twist comes after Corrie star Adam Hussain spoke out about leaving the soap. Earlier this week, the star - who played Aadi Alahan on Corrie - said that he decided to leave to "spread his wings".
"My life has changed for the better since I joined Corrie and it has been such an honour to be part of the amazing cast," he told The Mirror.
"I joined during the Covid pandemic, which was a weird and surreal time to take on a new character. I’ve loved playing Aadi, I have made good friends on the set, and I am going to miss Corrie dearly."
Coronation Street airs tonight at 8pm on ITV1 and is available to stream already on ITVX.
