LIV Golf star has graciously declared he would decline a spot from Europe team captain due to his current slump in form. Despite being a regular in Europe's squad since 1999, with only 2010 and now 2023 missing from his record, Garcia admits that playing in the 2025 event could be off the cards for him.
The Spanish star wrapped up the with a final round of 69 on Sunday. Garcia was competing in his first PGA Championship since 2022 and ended up finishing the tournament at seven over par.
Rounds of 68 and 69 were undone by an opening 75 and third round 79, derailing any hopes of making the top 10. Given his individual performances in this year's league, he will certainly be disappointed with his efforts.

Post-tournament, the 45-year-old nobly stated that he'd rather put the Ryder Cup team's needs before his own when the tournament hits New York come September, reports .
"The way I'm playing, even if Luke offered me a pick right now, I would tell him no," said Garcia. "Obviously, I need to get better. I need to get more where I was just before the Masters.

"You know, just show myself and show everyone that my game is solid, and it can help Team Europe. It's as simple as that.
"The good thing is that there's still, you know, two or three months until the team is finalised. So, I'll have time to gain some confidence and improve a little bit on my game."
The 2017 Masters champion currently sits fourth in the LIV standings after securing a win in Hong Kong back in March.
It appeared as though that victory enhanced his chances of a potential captain's pick for the Ryder Cup, with Donald reportedly offering Garcia an olive branch, especially as he rejoined the DP World Tour in November 2024.
Yet Garcia has failed to crack the top 40 across either of his previous two LIV individual events in South Korea or Mexico. This means he is now trailing leader Joaquin Nieman by a whopping 47 points.
Garcia could bounce back into contention for a captain's pick over the next six LIV tournaments if he regains his top form. Reflecting on his Hong Kong victory, Garcia shared that he has been communicating with the English captain.
"I think he's watching," he said. "We've been in touch, so I know that he's keeping an eye. The only thing I can do is keep playing good golf, and I just want to help the European team like I've tried to do every single time I've been a member of that team, and hopefully he will think I'm good enough for it."
Garcia is regarded as a European Ryder Cup legend, with six victories in 10 appearances. He is also one of the most decorated players in the history of the prestigious event, holding several records including the most points scored.
