Man gets 'satisfying' revenge on hikers who parked on his driveway

A doctor, fed up after a group of backpackers parked three large cars on his private driveway, got the "perfect" revenge. Tracking down can be a bit of a minefield but it's safe to assume all reasonable and considerate people know parking on someone else's property is a big no-no. If your parked car renders someone's home inaccessible to them, then you've definitely crossed a line.

Sadly, this was the experience for one doctor who lives in a semi-rural setting on a large ranch-style property in Montana. He came home one day to find three large blocking his driveway - and the cars were left there for several days while the drivers went off to enjoy a scenic hike and trip - oblivious to the parking chaos they'd left behind.

The doctor's home is situated in large, established grounds, some of which he leases out to people who "know what they're doing". When he moved in, he had the boundaries assessed by a professional and then marked out by a fence. He added "no trespassing" signs in a bid to ensure people passing by were aware they were near private .

His riveway is long and private, accessed via a main road. Returning home one day, he found three cars blocking it, leaving him unable to access his home by car. The end of his driveway meets a public road which is around three quarters of a mile away from his house so the doctor had to abandon his own car and walk almost a mile to get home. The driveway has "drainage ditches on either side" so he was unable to drive around or past them.

He thought about towing them out of the way but was concerned he might get into trouble, so called the local police for guidance on how best to handle the situation - as well as acting as a "witness". After the local sheriff told him he was within his rights to act on the parked cars, he waited a little longer to see if the cars' owners would return for their vehicles.

After three days passed, he'd "had enough" and decided to take matters into his own hands. On , he shared: "I drove out to the cars with some wooden cribbing, and a high-lift jack, and jacked the cars up, put cribbing down, and left the cars there, wheels up in the air.

"It took two more days before anyone showed up. Eight people showed up, angry because their cars had been essentially booted. They really didn't like it when I told them they owed me for parking, and damage done to the road, because they blocked it."

The car owners were even more incensed when the doctor demanded payment for parking and damage to his driveway. Despite their protests that they hadn't realised they were trespassing, their complaints fell on deaf ears as the police had already been informed of the situation and were on the doctor's side.

A month later, the doctor found himself being sued by the drivers, but he countersued - and won. The judge ordered the drivers to pay for resurfacing the road, storage fees and punitive damages. The doctor concluded: "It took a year, but I got the payment from the third hiker last week. I decided that the money will go to help pay for my annual summer BBQ for the county's emergency responders".

Beneath the story, one person commented: "In the country, or the city or in the suburbs: what kind of idiot blocks a driveway??!" Another user noted: "This was one of the most satisfying posts I've read on here in a long time!"

A third added: "What a heartwarming revenge story!" However, some people wondered if the story was entirely made up.
