See how much more you will pay for energy as Ofgem price cap risesThe Mirror has updated its energy calculator to show you how much more you will pay for gas and electricity this winter after Ofgem announced its new price cap. The price cap changes every three months, with the latest one set to take effect from October 1 and continue through to the end of the year.
The new cap means that the typical household willpay £1,755 annually for gas and electricity, for a standard dual-fuel direct debit plan. That’s an increase of 2%, and represents an extra £35 a year on average, or £2.93 per month.
The impact of these changes will vary from household to household though, depending on how much fuel you use. Our Data Unit team has updated the Mirror’s energy calculator to help you estimate how much your monthly bill from October will be.

'Taylor Swift's engagement news has left me devastated and fearing what's next'Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement yesterday after two years of dating - and the Mirror’s Assistant Showbiz Editor Jasmine Allday has shared her thoughts on the news.
The happy couple took to social media to share a string of loved-up snaps, with the caption: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” In response to the post, Jasmine wrote in an opinion piece: “If you asked me the first song I remember really listening to and feeling every emotion it portrayed - it would be Taylor Swift.
“As the years went on, Taylor seemed to effortlessly capture every emotion I was experiencing at the exact moment I was. 2010 and the release of Speak Now and there were the highs (Sparks Fly) and the lows (Speak Now - I didn't crash a wedding just FYI!).”
She added: “When I found out Taylor had announced her engagement to Travis Kelce, I was thrilled for her but a selfish part of me was thinking - will I never get the feeling of hearing a new break-up song again - the ones that got me through a lot as a teenager "in love".”

Are you shocked by Farage's mass deportation plans? Take our poll
Following Nigel Farage’s speech on mass deportations of asylum seekers yesterday, our Secure team has asked readers if they are shocked by the Reform UK leader’s draconian proposals.
It comes after Farage indicated that some 600,000asylum seekers could be deported in the first parliament of a Reform UK government. And he pledged to scale up the detention capacity for 24,000. But his plans to detain women and children and deport vulnerable people to war-torn countrieswere quickly ripped to shreds.
His inflammatory language was branded "reprehensible" after he appeared sanguine about failed asylum seekers being tortured or murdered if they were sent back after entering the UK illegally. And we want to know if you were shocked at his ideas by taking our poll in the link below.

The Norwegian flight bound for Paris left Stockholm's Arlanda airport, in Sweden, and was forced to circle the city in preparation for an emergency landing following the explosion. Debris was found on the runway as the plane circled the airport this morning.
The bang was heard as the plane took-off from the airport while 181 passengers were on board. It was later determined that the plane would return to Arlanda due to a "technical problem," a Norwegian press officer said. Police and paramedics raced to the runway following the explosion, which was found to have affected one of the tyres.
