Ruben Amorim's position has come under fresh scrutiny in the aftermath of Manchester United's humiliating 3-0 derby thrashing by Manchester City with a club that he knows well reportedly eyeing up the Portuguese as their next boss. The crushing result sealed United's most dismal start to a campaign since 1992/93.
Their solitary triumph this term came against Burnley, having suffered defeat to Arsenal on opening day before drawing with Fulham at Craven Cottage. The Portuguese chief has now managed just eight victories from his 31 league matches at the helm.
"Guys, I understand that and I accept it," Amorim said on his record in charge. "It is not a record you should have in Manchester United. There are a lot of things - you have no idea what happened during these months - but I accept that. I am not going to change.

"When I want to change my philosophy, I will change. If not, you have to change the man. My message is that I am going to give everything. I will do everything, always thinking about what is best for the club.
"That was always the same message. It is not my decision, the rest [on whether United change manager]. Until I am here, I will do my best. I really want to win games. I am suffering more than them."
United have another tough test when they host Chelsea on Saturday (5.30pm). Red Devils' legend Gary Neville has warned that serious questions will emerge should they succumb to yet another loss.
Amorim, the man who ended Sporting Clube de Portugal's20-year title drought and also restored their European status before taking over from Erik ten Hag at United, is highly regarded in his native Portugal. Now, it seems that Benfica, Sporting's rivals, are keeping tabs on his situation in Manchester.
With a presidential election looming next month, one of the candidates, Joao Noronha Lopes, has reportedly put Amorim on his shortlist of potential managers. According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Lopes and former Portugal international Nuno Gomes - who is running for vice-president - were spotted at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
When asked during his campaign in Evora if Amorim could be Benfica's new head coach, Gomes hinted that it was a possibility. A Bola also reports that Lopes has a contract ready for City player, Bernardo Silva - in a bid to lure him back to Estadio da Luz.
Silva, a product of Benfica's academy, spent 13 years in Lisbon before making a permanent move to AS Monaco in 2015. He joined City two years later.
