Balrampur : A shocking incident has come to light from Balrampur, Chhattisgarh. Constable Satyendra Pathak, posted at the police lines, has been accused of raping a college student. The student belongs to the Scheduled Tribe community and dropped out of school after the incident. According to reports, the 21-year-old student, a resident of the Bagicha police station area of Jashpur district, was pursuing her first year BA while staying at a relative's house in Balrampur. Her relatives, a husband and wife, are also posted in the police department. It was during this time that she met Constable Satyendra Pathak.
First raped in the house, later in the room
On 22 February 2025, the student's relatives had gone for duty. During this time, Satyendra Pathak entered the house and molested and raped the student. The student informed the relatives about the incident when they returned from duty. They called the accused and questioned him, then he swore that he would not do such a thing again and the matter was suppressed. After about two weeks, the accused took the student on his scooty to his quarters and raped her again. This time he also threatened to kill the student. Out of fear and shame, the victim left her studies and returned home.
Police Negligence
The student reported the incident to the Balrampur police station, but the police did not register an FIR. The victim later complained to the Surguja Inspector General of Police. On the IG's instructions, the Bagicha police station registered a zero FIR on September 22, 2025, and sent the case diary to the Balrampur police station. A case has been registered against the accused constable, Satyendra Pathak, under sections 332 (b) and 64 (2). The Balrampur police are currently investigating the case.
