DUSU Election Result: ABVP has emerged victorious in the Delhi University Student Union elections. ABVP has won three posts, while NSUI has captured the vice-president's post.
The RSS-affiliated ABVP has secured a landslide victory in the Delhi University student union elections. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) captured three seats, including the president's post. In the results announced on Friday (September 19), the Congress-affiliated National Students' Union of India (NSUI) secured only the vice-president's post.
In this election, the NSUI lost one position compared to the previous election. The organization also lost the president's position. Interestingly, the NSUI vice-president candidate received the most votes in this election, securing 29,339 votes.
ABVP wins
ABVP candidates Aryan Mann won the post of President, Kunal Chaudhary the post of Secretary, and Deepika Jha the post of Joint Secretary. Meanwhile, Govind Tanwar lost the post of Vice President. ABVP candidates for all three positions were leading in the trends from the first round.
President: Aryan Mann - 28841 votes
Vice President: Govind Tanwar - 20547 votes
Secretary: Kunal Chaudhary - 23779 votes
Joint Secretary: Deepika Jha - 21825 votes
The condition of NSUI
NSUI candidate Rahul Jhansal won the vice-president position, while Jocelyn Nandita Chaudhary, the president, Kabir, and Luvkush Bhadana, the joint secretary, lost.
President: Jocelyn Nandita Chaudhary – 12645 votes
Vice President: Rahul Yadav Jhansal – 29339 votes
Secretary: Kabir – 16177 votes
Joint Secretary: Luvkush Bhadana – 17380 votes
The state of SFI-AISA
The SFI-AISA alliance candidate received 5,385 votes for the president's post, while the NSUI rebel independent candidate received 5,522. The SFI-AISA secured 4,163 votes for the vice president's post, 9,535 for the secretary's post, and 8,425 for the joint secretary's post.
Voting for the Delhi University Students Union elections was held on Thursday and 39.45 percent voting was recorded.
What was the result in 2024?
In the 2024 Delhi University Students' Union elections, the NSUI won the president and joint secretary positions. Raunak Khatri became president, and Lokesh Chaudhary won the joint secretary position. Meanwhile, ABVP's Bhanu Pratap won the vice president position and Mitravinda Karanwal won the secretary position.
What did Deepika Jha say?
After the victory, ABVP's Deepika Jha said, "I came here from Bihar and worked hard. Every student of Delhi University understood my struggle and I won by a margin of 4,000 votes. I thank all of them."
What did the NSUI President say?
Regarding the setback suffered by the NSUI in this election, the organization's national president, Varun Chaudhary, stated that the struggle will continue. He said, "NSUI fought well in this unequal election. This election was fought not only against the ABVP, but also against the combined might of the DU administration, the Delhi government, the central government, the RSS-BJP, and the Delhi Police. Thousands of DU students stood firmly with us and supported us, and our candidates fought valiantly. Congratulations to newly elected DUSU Vice President Rahul Jhansla (from the NSUI panel) and all other winning office bearers."
Varun Chaudhary said, "They even tried to steal the election by tampering with EVMs and using professors from the DU election team. Win or lose, the NSUI will always fight for ordinary students, their problems, and to save DU. We will only grow stronger."
