Rishabh Pant's injury has drawn lines of worry on the forehead of the Indian team. Pant is injured and he left the field on the first day of the third Test match. Pant got injured in the second session of the Lord's Test. Pant left the field after getting injured in the index finger of his left hand during the game, after which he was under the observation of the medical team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a statement that Pant is under the observation of the medical team, and Dhruv Jurel has been given the responsibility of wicketkeeping in his place.
The BCCI said, 'Team India's vice-captain Rishabh Pant has suffered an injury to the index finger of his left hand. He is currently undergoing treatment and is under the observation of the medical team. Dhruv Jurel is wicketkeeping in Rishabh's absence.' Even after the treatment given on the field after the injury, Pant did not get any benefit, and he left the field, in whose place Dhruv Jurel was sent, while he was not even included in the final eleven for the third Test.
Pant was in pain after diving to stop Jasprit Bumrah's ball on the leg side in the 34th over of the innings. Pant managed to touch the ball but could not stop it completely. After this, the game was halted for some time as the Indian support staff was on the field to treat Pant's hand. But when the game resumed, he was unable to do wicketkeeping.
Finally, after Bumrah's over was over, Pant left the field, and Jurel took over the wicketkeeping duties. At the end of the first day's play, England scored 251 runs for 4 wickets in their first innings. Joe Root is unbeaten on 99 runs while captain Ben Stokes is unbeaten on 39 runs.
