For the first time since the ongoing dispute between India and Canada, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has admitted that Khalistani supporters live in Canada. In a statement given during the Diwali celebrations at Parliament Hill, Trudeau acknowledged the presence of Khalistani supporters in Canada but quickly added that they do not represent all Sikh communities.

He also said that similarly, there are supporters of Prime Minister Modi's government in Canada, but they do not represent all Hindu Canadians. The relationship between the two countries has come under serious strain after Trudeau's allegations of possible involvement of Indian agents in the murder of Nijjar in September last year and it shows no signs of abating.

Earlier this week, some protesters entered a temple in Brampton, Canada. Some of them were waving Khalistani flags, these protesters also beat up temple devotees. In the video that went viral on social media, protesters can be seen attacking devotees outside the temple premises. After which the Hindu community held several protests in Canada.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the incident and stressed that every Canadian has the right to peacefully practice their religion in Canada.

India expressed concern about the safety of Hindus

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that New Delhi is deeply concerned about the safety of Indian citizens in Canada. The Indian Embassy in Toronto said it is cancelling some events this month as Canadian security agencies have expressed their inability to provide minimum security to the organizers.
