Indian Ambassador Sanjay Kumar Verma's statement recalled from Canada

Send Push

Former Indian Ambassador to Canada Sanjay Kumar Verma on Friday (October 25, 2024) revealed what happened to him and how he was treated during his stay there. He said that he was attacked by a Khalistani supporter in Alberta, Canada. The man had pointed a sword at Verma, which came very close to his body.

Sword Attack

Sanjay Kumar Verma said, "Many times pro-Khalistani people would come very close to harm me physically. They did not have any kirpan, but they came with a sword. When I was in Alberta, the sword was just 2 to 2.5 inches away from my body." This incident was very scary for Verma, and he took it seriously.

Involvement in Nijjar's murder investigation

Sanjay Kumar Verma also informed that the Canadian government had declared him a Person of Interest during the investigation into the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June 2023. Nijjar was considered a Khalistani terrorist by the Indian government. Before Canada could take any concrete action in the matter, the Indian government recalled Verma and five other diplomats. These diplomats were also involved in the investigation of Nijjar's murder.

Khalistan business in Canada

Verma said that pro-Khalistan people in Canada have made it a business. They are doing illegal work like human trafficking, drug trafficking, and arms smuggling in the name of this. Along with this, they are also earning money through gurdwaras and using some part of that money in their wrong deeds.

Political support and social attention

Verma gave an example, saying, “The child who cries the most is fed first by his mother. Similarly, even though these Khalistanis are a handful, they shout the most and attract the attention of Canadian political supporters.”

India-Canada relations

Tensions between India and Canada have increased in recent times, especially since India has decided to take strict action against Khalistani terrorism. In such a situation, Verma's statement further clarifies the situation between the two countries. Such incidents have become a matter of concern for India, and it is expected that the government will take appropriate action by taking this matter seriously.
