The new government of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Haryana has taken an important step for the reserved category students in the very first year of its tenure. The government has sought applications from students under the Dr. Ambedkar Medhavi Scholarship Scheme, which will benefit school and college students.

Where to apply?:  Eligible students can apply for this scholarship scheme by visiting the website saralharyana.gov.in. This scheme of the Haryana government is merit-based and aims to help SC, ST and backward caste students to pursue higher education. Through this scheme, the government is providing financial assistance to advance the students of these classes.

Only online applications will be valid:  Only online applications will be valid for this scheme. There is no facility for offline application, so that the application process can be made easy and transparent. The special thing is that the students who apply under this scheme will not be able to apply for any other scholarship scheme.

Who can apply?:  There are some essential eligibility criteria prescribed to avail the benefits of this scholarship scheme:

It is mandatory to be a resident of Haryana. Students in urban areas must score at least 65% marks in graduation examination, while students from rural areas must have 60% marks. Along with this, the annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 4 lakh. This scheme is applicable for students from 11th to post-graduation of SC, BC, DNT, Vimukta Jati and Tapriwas category of Haryana.

How much scholarship will be given?:  Under this scheme, eligible students will get financial assistance according to their class:

Students who pass 10th standard will get a scholarship of Rs 8000 per year. Scheduled caste students will be given a scholarship of ₹ 8000 to ₹ 10000 on passing 12th standard. After graduation, students will get financial assistance of Rs 9000 to 12000 per year for further studies.

The main objective of this initiative of the Haryana government is that more and more meritorious students from reserved categories can get higher education. The financial assistance provided under this scholarship scheme will be a great support for those students who are unable to continue their studies due to financial constraints.
