Bargain Hunt is back on BBC One with expert Roo Irvine offering up some priceless advice. She started her career with a small antiques shop in a village in Scotland.

It was not long before the presenter, , was on the TV screens of millions of people. On her website, however, she claimed she "didn't go looking for fame".

Her bio reads: "Roo was discovered after BBC Antiques Road Trip visited her store, Kilcreggan Antiques, in early 2015 and very shortly after BBC producers invited her to join the team of antiques experts." She is now a regular TV expert on Antiques Road Trip, Flipping Profit, Bargain Hunt and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

Following the star's rise to fame, she has also made numerous guest appearances on shows such as Mastermind, House of Games and Pointless. She went on to launch her video and podcast channels under the tag #RadioRoo.

She writes about antiques for several publications and away from work,

Kilcreggan Antiques is the name of Roo's antiques shop and it is based in Helensburgh.

Explaining the heartbreaking reason for setting up shop, she said: "My husband and I both had our own marketing consultancy, and we were used to travelling a lot for work, but then both of our fathers passed away within three weeks of each other back in 2013.

"We left the corporate world behind and pondered what to do, as our mums both needed us.

"We had recently become addicted to auctions, having furnished our house purely with antiques.

"We started to sell some pieces online, which was very successful, and then opened up our wee shop in the village and haven't looked back since."

On what she would be doing had she not chosen a career in antiques, she added: "It was a hugely unexpected change in personal circumstances that led us here, so who knows?

"Maybe I would've eventually gone back to the corporate world but it wasn't making me happy anymore.

"If I could pick any other career it would definitely be the world of food! I'm a huge foodie, and restaurant critic/reviewer would be an ideal role."

Bargain Hunt airs on BBC One on weekdays at 12.15pm
