One thing helps bell peppers stay fresher for longer. Bell peppers are a delightful vegetable that can be included in so many dishes, including curries, salads and pasta dishes. While they normally last at least a few days in the fridge, they can go bad and sometimes, we might be forced to throw them out. But there is one thing you can do to make your bell peppers stay fresher for longer.
One of the best ways to keep bell peppers fresher for longer is by using beeswax paper. This handy invention is great for wrapping many foods and provides a breathable seal to keep them fresher for longer. It is often used to carry sandwiches and wraps, for example, into the office to have for lunch. But there are many other uses for beeswax paper, such as keeping your bell peppers fresher for longer.
Beeswax paper created a protective barrier. So, as your other fruits and vegetables start to ripen and release gases, this paper protects your bell peppers.
However, it is also breathable, meaning your bell peppers won't suffocate. Additionally, beeswax paper has antimicrobial properties which inhibit the growth and spread of bacteria. This leads to freshness for longer.
The experts at Green Wrap said they noticed a huge difference when wrapping their bell peppers in beeswax paper. They revealed: "I do think beeswax wrap keeps food fresher than cling wrap or aluminium foil. I definitely noticed that when I stored my peppers in Bee's Wrap, they lasted longer and were crisper, and I was surprised that my avocados only browned slightly after a few days in the fridge."
Meanwhile, Baja Bee says that these wraps can "create a gentle dew on the vegetables, preventing them from wilting or softening."
"Vegetables can last for weeks when wrapped in this way and stored in the refrigerator," they said. Beeswax paper is made from, naturally, bee's wax. It is typically made by saturating a cotton fabric with a mixture of beeswax, resin, and oil.
For bell peppers, you will need medium wraps of about 10 by 11 inches. Beeswax wraps are typically found in speciality organic stores and can be bought via many online retailers such as Amazon.
