For those seeking a perfect sunny-side-up egg, professional chef Billy Parisi has revealed his method for achieving perfection in just one minute. He emphasised that the key aspect to concentrate on when cooking them is the heat.
Billy uses a medium-sized hob that can reach a decent temperature to cook the egg for one minute.
To fry an egg, start by cracking one into a bowl, ensuring there are no shells before setting it aside.
Then, add some fat to a small non-stick pan and heat over low to medium heat for about one minute.
There's a significant debate among chefs about whether butter or oil is best for frying an egg, and Billy has highlighted the pros and cons of both.
He said: "Butter will heat more quickly and can have a tendency to burn, but it will enhance the flavour of the eggs.
"Oil has a higher smoke point and can cook your eggs at low temperatures, giving them that perfect white colour."
The chef mentioned that his "favourite fats to use" are oil, unsalted butter and rendered bacon fat.
Next, introduce the cracked egg into the fat and cook to your preferred taste. Cook on medium for one minute or on low for two minutes.
Conclude by seasoning the egg with salt and pepper and serve.
