Donald Trump was told to "go f*** yourself" by a TV host live on-air after starting a public feud with late night presenter Stephen Colbert. Colbert's speech was met with loud cheers from his audience as he read out a tweet composed by the US president celebrating the recent axing of The Late Show.
Stephen said: "On Friday Donald Trump posted, 'I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings'. How dare you. How dare you, sir! Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism? Go f*** yourself," he added while looking into a camera cheekily dubbed the 'eloquence cam'.
Trump's post went on: "I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show."
Colbert and Kimmel have long been against the Republican president, while Gutfeld! airs on Fox News - a network known for its support of Trump.
Colbert also responded to the rumours about Kimmel, insisting: "Nope, no, no. Absolutely not. Kimmel, I am the martyr. There's only room for one on this cross. And the view is fantastic from up here. I can see your house!"
Kimmel, meanwhile, has come out in support of his fellow late-night host, writing in an Instagram story that took aim at CBS: "Love you, Stephen. F*** you and all your Sheldons, CBS."
He was referencing CBS hit comedy The Big Bang Theory, which has so far launched two spin-offs - Young Sheldon and Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. A third, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, was announced earlier in July.
But the network confirmed that Stephen's show will be axed, releasing a statement which said: "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will end its historic run in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season. We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise at that time."
