
Former Zimbabwean footballer Tendai Ndoro has tragically died at the age of 40. The ex-striker was found dead in his Johannesburg home. He had been reportedly battling a long-term illness.
Ndoro represented Zimbabwe on 14 occasions between 2013 and 2017, netting five goals. He also played for South African teams Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town and Highlands Park, and had stints in Saudi Arabia with Al-Faisaly and in Oman featuring for Al-Orouba.
Orlando Pirates, one of his former clubs, expressed their sorrow in a statement: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former striker Tendai Ndoro. The club extend heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time."
Another one of his previous teams expressed their grief on social media: "Cape Town Spurs FC are saddened by the passing of former Ajax Cape Town player, Tendai Ndoro. We would like to send our heartfelt condolences to Tendai's family and friends. May he Rest In Peace."
During his tenure with Orlando Pirates from 2015 to 2017, Ndoro scored an impressive 25 goals in 48 league matches. His performances left a lasting impact on the club's fans, who took to social media to express their condolences.
One supporter penned: "So heartbreaking. Tendai Ndoro will always be remembered for the joy he brought to the game and the memories he gave us. My deepest condolences to his family and the entire Pirates family. May his soul rest in peace."
Another fan fondly remembered: "I will never forget his screamer against Kaizer Chiefs...RIP legend Ndoro."
A third shared: "We will never forget him. 2016/17 Made his name. May his soul REST IN PEACE. He loved this club, respected the badge, we're saddened by his passing, may his wife and kids find peace in this difficult times. May his soul rest in eternal love and peace," a supporter posted.
