Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh has made a heartbreaking admission about a possible show return.
Sandra is best known for playing cardiothoracic surgeon Cristina Yang on the long-running medical drama.
Cristina was part of the original intern class, alongside Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), and George O'Malley (TR Knight).
Throughout her time on the show, Cristina was involved in several high-profile storylines.
Her relationship with Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) notably ended on their wedding day in season three, she was left traumatised after the hospital shooting at the end of season six, and was on the plane that crashed in season eight, reports the Mirror US.
After ten seasons, Cristina left Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to take a job in Zurich, Switzerland. She accepted a position at the Klausman Institute for Medical Research, a hospital founded by her former mentor and ex-fiancé, Preston.
Sandra has since gone on to star in a number of popular films and TV shows, including Killing Eve, The Chair and Turning Red.
Over ten years on from her Grey's Anatomy exit, fans are still hoping for Cristina's return. However, Sandra has now addressed the possibility, and it's not good news.
In an interview with Deadline, the 53-year-old actor expressed admiration for fans of the series, but also said that she had "to be true" to herself.
"What I have noticed, this is ten years out from leaving the show, is the deep appreciation that I have for the people who appreciate Cristina," she said.
"It is that love that has made me go, 'Oh, the fans really, really, really want it,' and for the first time, that's when I started opening up the idea."
However, she continued: "For me, I think to really be true to the people who enjoy your work, you have to be true to yourself. So, at this point, I don't think so."
This won't be a surprise to many fans, as Sandra made similar comments when asked about a possible return as Cristina last year.

"I love that you asked me that, because Cristina Yang is, of course, near and dear to my heart. [But] I will say, not anytime soon, my love," she previously told Entertainment Tonight.
"I hope people feel like I did my job, which is that I brought to life a character and she had a growth over ten seasons, and that it was true. She was ready to move on, and so have I."
Grey's Anatomy's season 21 finale aired in May, and saw the hospital under threat when a mother threatened to detonate a gas tank to get Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) to operate on her daughter.
The tense episode ended with a huge explosion, with the fate of several surgeons hanging in the balance. However, we won't know who survives the horrific events until season 22 premieres later this year.
