Chaos has erupted in this evening as reports suggest a number of people have been struck by a driver outside a football stadium.
There are conflicting reports over whether the horrific scenes took place prior to a league match between RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona or after the game at the RCDE Stadium in Cornella-El Prat, on the outskirts of had kicked off.
Videos posted on social media show the chaotic scenes, with dozens of officers in attendance. It is not yet known whether there have been any casualties as a result of the incident.
Local independent journalist Sergi Marana wrote on X: "The driver of a vehicle has run over several people at the RCDE Stadium in Cornellà-El Prat in the minutes before the League match between RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona."
A woman in an Espanyol shirt with a bloodied face could be seen being escorted from the scene in video footage. The clip was posted on X and the caption claimed there were "possible deaths". The claim has not been verified.
Other footage shows a white car surrounded by police and fans, being pelted with missiles, before driving into the crowd.
