Everyone loves an ice cream sundae, don't they? It's the perfect dessert-both delicious and nostalgic. And with today being National Ice Cream Day, it's truly the best time to enjoy one. But why keep it kid-friendly when you can add a shot of something to truly take your dessert to the next level?
The recently launched Lacey's Vodkashakes, with strawberry and banana variants, are being promoted as the perfect addition to milkshakes, sundaes, and ice cream floats, and are taking TikTok by storm. After picking up two bottles of this vegan-friendly liquor, I opted to follow the brand's recipe for a Strawberry Sensation Sundae, which sounded truly delicious.

And the sundae tasted just as good as it sounded, combining strawberry and vanilla ice creams with fruit, chocolate and shortbread - and that's before the booze has even been added.
If you're feeling particularly creative, you can even make your own ice cream before making the sundae. I, however, opted for store-bought ice cream.
The sundae can easily be made dairy-free for vegans or anyone with dairy intolerance by simply replacing the ice cream and whipped cream with dairy-free options.
While the sundae was quite delicious, I did think the recipe was perhaps in the wrong order. The shot was poured over last, after the whipped cream.
This led to a less-than-picture-perfect result, which certainly wouldn't win any points for presentation, even if it is my new favourite dessert.
Next time I make this sundae, I may re-order the recipe, pouring the shot in first and properly mixing it with the ice cream before adding the whipped cream and other toppings. Maybe it'll look a little better, or maybe not, but either way, I'll still be enjoying a delicious after-dinner treat.

- Two scoops of strawberry ice cream
- One to two scoops of vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream
- Chopped strawberries
- White chocolate shavings
- Crushed shortbread biscuits
- One shot of Lacey's Strawberry Vodkashake
- Colourful sprinkles
Fill a retro sundae bowl, or any bowl, with the strawberry and vanilla ice creams. Then top with a whirl of whipped cream, fresh strawberries, white chocolate shavings and crushed shortbread biscuits.
Then pour over a shot of the strawberry vodkashake and garnish with colourful sprinkles. Eat immediately, but be sure to keep away from children.
