Inside the luxury sleeper train ride through beautiful country with temples and elephants

Later this year, visitors will have the chance to explore Thailand's stunning countryside aboard the Blue Jasmine, a new luxury sleeper train journey stretching from bustling Bangkok to Chiang Mai in the north of the country. Over nine nights, passengers will travel through five provinces, experiencing a unique blend of cultural excursions and natural beauty. The itinerary features charming tuk-tuk rides in historic Ayutthaya, visits to sacred temples in Uthai Thani, and a memorable stop at an elephant sanctuary near Chiang Mai.

Originally a Japanese sleeper train from the 1960s, The Blue Jasmine has been transformed to provide an intimate and luxurious travel experience, with just 10 restored carriages accommodating up to 37 guests. The train's inaugural departure is set for November 2025.

The first stop is Ayutthaya, the former capital known for its UNESCO World Heritage temple ruins such as Wat Mahathat and stunning riverside gardens.

Next, the journey continues to Uthai Thani, where travellers visit the incredible Crystal Temple and the Golden Temple, known for their intricate mirrored glasswork and peaceful atmosphere.

Afterward, the train travels north to Chiang Mai, offering a chance to discover beautiful Thai-Lanna architecture, explore vibrant markets, and spend time at an ethical elephant sanctuary.

The trip then continues to Sukhothai, Thailand's first capital, where guests can wander among breathtaking ancient ruins surrounded by serene gardens and centuries-old monuments and experience a pottery workshop followed by a luxurious train dinner before returning to Bangkok for the last day.

The train features plush furnishings, rich fabrics, and spacious cabins, providing a luxurious and comfortable travel experience. Passengers enjoy exclusive access to a dedicated dining carriage where gourmet meals are expertly prepared by onboard chefs.

With panoramic lounges and sightseeing balconies, passengers can soak in the stunning views of Thailand's lush countryside as the journey unfolds.

Prices start from £7,890 per person for the Premium Cabin, including return flights from the UK. For those seeking extra comfort, the Premium Suite option begins at £10,090 per person.

Further departures are scheduled throughout 2026, with trips planned in January, February, March, July, November, and December.
